Frequently Asked Questions

Can the Kit be used directly from the fridge?
No. All components should be allowed to equilibrate at room temperature 15oC to 30oC prior to testing. This includes the device, specimen, buffer and controls.

No control line appeared, what does this mean?
The test has not run correctly. This may occur if the pouch has been opened for too long prior to the test being carried out. It could also be a consequence of adding insufficient or excess sample/buffer to the test. The test result is void and must be repeated.

The test line has appeared but is is fainter than the control line. How should this result be interpreted?
The presence of a test line regardless of its intensity, in the presence of a control line, at the 10 minute read time of the test, must be recorded as a positive result. The strength of the test line depends on the amount of H.pylori antibodies in the sample; hence low-level antibodies would result in a weak test line being generated.

What sample types can be tested?
Clearview H.pylori can be used with either whole blood (venous or fingerprick), serum, or plasma.

If the patient specimens are not used immediately, how may they be stored and for how long?
Testing should be performed immediately after specimen collection. The specimens must not be left at room temperature for prolonged periods. If required, the samples should be stored as follows:

Whole Blood Specimens

  • Whole blood collected by venipuncture should be stored at 2-8°C if the test is to be run within 2 days of collection. DO NOT FREEZE WHOLE BLOOD SPECIMENS.
  • Whole blood collected by fingerstick should be tested immediately.

Serum and Plasma Specimens

  • Serum and plasma specimens may be stored at 2-8°C for up to 3 days. For more prolonged storage the specimens should be kept below -20°C.

Frozen specimens must be completely thawed and mixed prior to testing. Specimens must not be frozen and thawed repeatedly.
